Baseball Recap: Sandalwood Gets the Win

Sandalwood lost to Oakleaf back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Saints came out on top in a nail-biter against the Knights, sneaking past 4-2.

Trey Dennis and Noah Salazar did most of the damage at the plate: Dennis scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Salazar scored a run while going 1-for-1. Parker Shuman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Sandalwood hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakleaf struck out 11 times.

Sandalwood's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Oakleaf, they dropped their record down to 10-14 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sandalwood will welcome Riverside at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oakleaf, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against St. Joseph Academy at 6:00 p.m. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Flashes have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
