The South Central Trojans fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Northwestern Huskies on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 84-81. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
South Central's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kendyl Beverly, who scored 35 points along with 5 rebounds. Angela Williams was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
South Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Northwestern, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
South Central will head out on the road to face off against Lucas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northwestern, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chippewa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
