Baseball Game Preview: Stratford Knights vs. Cane Bay Cobras

For the second straight game, Stratford will face off against Cane Bay. The Knights will face off against the Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stratford has nine straight victories, Cane Bay has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Stratford barely beat Cane Bay the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights never let the Cobras get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Jachin Davis, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was JQ Crosby, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Stratford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cane Bay only posted an OBP of .238.

Stratford pushed their record up to 11-2-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cane Bay, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Stratford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game.
