After a string of three wins, the Keystone Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Clearview by a score of 62-60. Keystone was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Clearview apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Keystone's loss came despite strong showings from Grant Hartley and Liam Goran. Hartley scored 18 points along with eight assists and six rebounds, while Goran scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. It was the first time this season that Goran pulled down eight or more rebounds. Tucker Webb was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Even though they lost, Keystone were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clearview only racked up 11 assists.
Ashton Noble was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with six assists and six rebounds for Clearview. Noble continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cy Christensen, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Keystone now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Clearview, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Keystone will face off against Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keystone is coming into the matchup with four straight defeats on the road, meaning Columbia will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Clearview, they will challenge Oberlin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clearview is facing Oberlin at the right time seeing as Oberlin is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
