After each having a week off, the Newton Rams and the Peachtree Ridge Lions will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. Newton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Friday, Newton didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against South Gwinnett, but they still walked away with a 27-21 win.

It was another big night for Darius White, who rushed for 187 yards and three scores while picking up 11.0 yards per carry. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Deron Benson, who threw for 169 yards on only 16 passes.
Newton didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited South Gwinnett to a completion percentage of just 42.9%. The Rams weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 62.5%.
Meanwhile, Peachtree Ridge humbled Berkmar with a 41-6 victory. Considering the Lions have won five matchups by more than 24 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Peachtree Ridge's win came from a few key players Newton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Rayshaun Parks, who threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns. His passing game has become a key predictor of Peachtree Ridge's success: the team is 6-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Sedric Addison helped Parks out on the ground, rushing for 43 yards and one TD, while also catching one score.
Peachtree Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jeremie McCall, Sojourn Parker, and Declan Delaporte picked up one apiece. Peachtree Ridge received some extra help from Parker, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Peachtree Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Newton, their win bumped their record up to an identical 7-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Newton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 275.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Peachtree Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 169.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Newton strolled past Peachtree Ridge in their previous matchup back in September of 2017 by a score of 47-28. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
