The Tyler Lions lost against the Forney Jackrabbits back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Tyler was the victim of a rough 53-29 loss at the hands of Forney. While losing is never fun, Tyler can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Forney is ranked 21st).
When it comes to explaining why Tyler lost, one person who can't be blamed is Derrick Mcfall. Despite the final result, he rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
It was another big night for Javian Osborne, who rushed for 291 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Osborne has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kyle Crawford, who threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Tyler and nudges their season record down to 6-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Longview (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 90% over those games). As for Forney, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Tyler does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Forney will take on Port Arthur Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
