Sadly, the Ellicott Thunderhawks are still looking for their first win of the season after 17 games. They took a serious blow against Crowley County on Thursday, falling 67-22. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ellicott in their matchups with Crowley County: they've now lost seven in a row.
Crowley County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gunner Hughes, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Hughes has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malaki McNeal, who scored nine points along with six steals.
Ellicott dropped their record down to 0-17 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Crowley County, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.
Ellicott will look to defend their home court on Saturday against St. Mary's at 4:00 p.m. St. Mary's has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Crowley County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
