Baseball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

If Mountain View was riding high fresh off their 18-0 takedown of Sabino last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mountain View Mountain Lions fell just short of the Flowing Wells Caballeros by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. The Mountain Lions were not able to make up for their loss to the Caballeros from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Mountain View saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zane Giron, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Giron is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another was Andrew Garcia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Mountain View now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Flowing Wells, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.

Coming up, Mountain View will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Mica Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Flowing Wells, they will host Vista Grande at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Flowing Wells: they have been struggling with nine straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Vista Grande has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
