Lubbock is 0-10 against Lubbock-Cooper since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lubbock Westerners will head out on the road to face off against the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Lubbock is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Lubbock was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-37 to Estacado. While losing is never fun, Lubbock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 814th, while Estacado is ranked 281st).
Meanwhile, Lubbock-Cooper pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Monterey 61-55.
Lubbock's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-10. As for Lubbock-Cooper, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Lubbock came up short against Lubbock-Cooper when the teams last played back in January, falling 58-45. Can Lubbock avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
