Dunlap extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping their season record up to 22-7 in the process. Everything went their way against the Sterling Golden Warriors as they made off with a 10-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 16 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Eli Michanicou made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.
In other pitching news, Christian Ferrari looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
Back at the plate, Gavin Gibbs was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Isaac Babbs was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Dunlap always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sterling only posted an OBP of .364.
As for Sterling, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-19. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with Dunlap: they've now lost five in a row.
On Sterling's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Monarrez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Looking ahead, Dunlap will head out on the road to take on Peoria Notre Dame at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Irish have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Sterling, they will welcome Sycamore at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
