Softball Recap: Sayville Extends Winning Streak to Three

Sayville extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 10-3 in the process. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Islip Buccaneers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-5 two weeks ago.

As for Islip, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-6-1 record. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Islip's part, Lauren Hofmann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits. Hofmann has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Islip saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Ryan, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Coincidentally, Sayville and Islip will both be playing Mount Sinai the next time they take the field. The Golden Flashes will head out to face the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Buccaneers will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
