It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Marquez Gladiators had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 59-37 victory. Marquez has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.
Marquez's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lamont White Jr, who scored 27 points along with four steals. White Jr is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 19 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Elyjah Staples, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Marquez has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. As for Legacy, they now have a losing record at 13-14.
Marquez will square off against Verdugo Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Verdugo Hills has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,121 points over their last 16 games. Legacy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
