Calaveras is a perfect 10-0 against Argonaut since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Red Hawks will head out to square off against the Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Calaveras was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bret Harte on Tuesday. The Red Hawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bullfrogs an 8-0 shutout.

Kamryn Thornburg was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Emma Clark was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Rylie Shields also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Argonaut won against El Dorado on Wednesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Mustangs didn't even let the Cougars on the board, marking the Mustangs' second-straight 11-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won five in a row.
Not much got past Hailey Dewald, who gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep El Dorado off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on AJ Schultz, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bailey Baker, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.
Calaveras' record now sits at 7-4. As for Argonaut, their record is now 11-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Calaveras has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Argonaut struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Calaveras' way against Argonaut in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Calaveras made off with a 10-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
