In what's become a running theme this season, the Pine Crest Panthers gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They blew past Calvary Christian Academy 55-33. Given Pine Crest's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Calvary Christian Academy is ranked 355th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Pine Crest to victory were Franky Garfi and Isabella M sangha. Garfi dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds, while M sangha dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. M sangha is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Holland, who scored three points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Despite the loss, Calvary Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Taryn Wakefield scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Camryn Kanell was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds.
Pine Crest is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12.
Pine Crest won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Palmer Trinity at 5:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Ransom Everglades at 6:00 p.m. Ransom Everglades will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
