The Simsbury Trojans put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Bacon Academy by a score of 32-24. Given Simsbury's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Bacon Academy is ranked 28th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Bacon Academy saw an underclassman step up: Skyelyn Schoen-rene scored ten points along with three steals.
Simsbury pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Bacon Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Simsbury will take on Farmington at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bacon Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against East Lyme at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Lyme comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
