The E.E. Smith Golden Bulls's 26-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 83-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of South View on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (55), E.E. Smith still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, E.E. Smith saw an underclassman step up: Tre Williams scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jackson Williams, who scored ten points along with six steals.
Chase Evans was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with six rebounds and six steals for South View. Evans is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Darin Word, who scored 21 points.
This is the second loss in a row for E.E. Smith and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for South View, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
After both having extra time off, E.E. Smith and Harnett Central will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. The timing is sure in Harnett Central's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while E.E. Smith has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. South View will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Pauls at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
