Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cottage). They blew past the Cumberland Academy of Georgia Cyclones 53-33 on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 45-41 back in December of 2024.

Leading Cottage to victory were Gavin Akers and Maxwell Lagan. Akers dropped a double-double on 25 points and 20 rebounds, while Lagan dropped a double-double on 25 points and 20 boards. Those 20 boards gave Akers a new career-high.

Cottage was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Cottage's win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-10. As for Cumberland Academy of Georgia, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Cottage will take on Howard at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cumberland Academy of Georgia, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mill Springs Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th.
