The Amherst Central Tigers's 21-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 76-51 walloping at the hands of Bishop Timon-St. Jude on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Amherst Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while Bishop Timon-St. Jude is ranked 21st).
Jacob Humphrey was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with four steals for Bishop Timon-St. Jude. The matchup was Humphrey's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nakyhi Harris, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Amherst Central and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Bishop Timon-St. Jude, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amherst Central will take on Hamburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bishop Timon-St. Jude, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute at 7:00 p.m.
