Even though the West Lafayette Red Devils scored an imposing 61 points on Saturday, the Harrison Raiders still came out on top. Harrison blew past West Lafayette 84-61. Given Harrison's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while West Lafayette is ranked 96th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jeffrey Williams had an outrageously good game as he scored 33 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ray Gibson, who scored 12 points along with 6 assists.
The victory (which was Harrison's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for West Lafayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Harrison will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lafayette Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Lafayette Jefferson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. As for West Lafayette, they will head out on the road to face off against Crawfordsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
