The Union Grove Wolverines''s 9-1 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They had to suffer through a rough 43-10 loss at the hands of Ola. While losing is never fun, Union Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Ola is ranked 95th).
Leading Ola to victory were Jake Holmes and Nigel Newkirk. Holmes rushed for nine yards and three touchdowns, while Newkirk rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Newkirk was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Union Grove and nudges their season record down to 1-8. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-8 Union Grove (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 43.1% over those games). As for Ola, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Union Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ola is also done with their season.
