The West Clermont Wolves waltzed into their matchup Monday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past Turpin with points to spare, taking the game 53-34. Given West Clermont's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Turpin is ranked 192nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West Clermont was led to victory by Maddi Fender and Layla Hale. Fender scored 13 points along with four steals, while Hale scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hale has scored at least 25% of West Clermont's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Schmidt, who scored three points along with five rebounds and four steals.
West Clermont pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Turpin, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
West Clermont will head out on the road to face off against Little Miami at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Little Miami focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday. As for Turpin, they will be playing at home against Kings at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kings and Turpin are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
