With a playoff game on the line, the Rosewood Eagles rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 41-28 victory over Washington County. Rosewood pushed the score to 41-20 by the end of the third, a deficit Washington County cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for David Lamm, who rushed for 184 yards and three touchdowns. Lamm has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Giovanni Pineda was another key contributor, throwing for 101 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.
When it comes to explaining why Washington County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amari Chesson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.
Rosewood has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Washington County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Rosewood will head out on the road to face off against Bear Grass Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bear Grass Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Rosewood likes a good challenge. Washington County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
