The Jackson Polar Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Hoover Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hoover took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Jackson, who comes in off a win.
Jackson's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. Everything went their way against Canton Central Catholic as Jackson made off with a 20-0 victory. The victory was just what Jackson needed coming off of a 27-7 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Hoover's 8-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 41-34 to Green on Friday. Despite 177 more yards than Green, Hoover couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Mason Ashby put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 53 receiving yards. Ashby was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Zac Braucher was in the mix as well, providing Hoover with two touchdowns.
Jackson now has a winning record of 5-4. Hoover has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Jackson came up short against Hoover in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 14-7. Can Jackson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
