The Brick Township Green Dragons are taking a road trip to  take on the Brick Memorial Mustangs  at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. Brick Township hasn't scored more than seven points for three games straight, a trend the  team is eager to reverse.
Brick Township is headed into the  contest out to prove that what happened against Manalapan  on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Green Dragons were  outmatched by the Braves and fell  34-6. While losing is never fun, the Green Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Braves are ranked 36th).
Meanwhile,  winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Brick Memorial). They took down Holmdel 55-41  on Friday.
Brick Township better keep an eye on  Jason Lajara. He was instrumental in Brick Memorial's win, throwing for 411 yards and four  touchdowns while completing 81.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 116 yards and three  scores on only 14 carries. With that strong performance,  Lajara is now averaging an impressive 100.2  rushing yards per game.  Nazeer Whittaker was another key player, gaining 218 total yards and two touchdowns.
 Brick Memorial was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 244  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
 Brick Memorial is  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 34.5 points over those games. As for Brick Township, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Friday's   game might be decided on the ground. Brick Township has been excellent on the ground this season,  having  averaged 158.2  rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Brick Memorial struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 165.8  rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's   contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
 Brick Township was taken down by Brick Memorial 37-6 when the teams last played  back in September of 2024. That  matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Green Dragons were down  22-0.
