Monadnock is a perfect 4-0 against Brattleboro since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Bears at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Monadnock barely beat Kearsarge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Huskies blew past the Cougars 11-3 on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Brattleboro never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Rutland. The game was the first time the Bears have beaten the Raiders on their field since May 20, 2021.
Jayke Glidden made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Glidden was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Sam Bogart and Senji Kimura did most of the damage at the plate: Bogart went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Kimura went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Derek Sage was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Monadnock pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Brattleboro, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Monadnock beat Brattleboro 6-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
