Volleyball Recap: Union Pines' Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Union Pines had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Pinecrest Patriots. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Union Pines took Pinecrest into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. The final score came out to 25-27, 25-17, 25-20, 18-25, 15-7.

Keira Rosenmarkle paced Union Pines' offense, picking up 33 kills. Rosenmarkle got some help from Allie Bauer and her 20 assists.

Pinecrest's loss came despite strong showings from Kenlee Agrell and Carly Stayskal. Agrell had 20 assists and six digs, while Stayskal had eight kills, six digs, and six aces.

Union Pines' record now sits at 5-1. As for Pinecrest, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Pines will venture away from home to face off against West Johnston at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Vikings their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Pinecrest, they are taking a road trip to square off against Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
