Bangor Christian took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They blew past the Schenck Wolverines 10-0. This was payback for the Patriots, who suffered a 13-12 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Cole Payne was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Payne was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Bangor Christian got a big performance out of Gabe Gahagan, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Jon Benjamin was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
