After both having extra time off, the Sanford Mustangs and the Escalante Lobos will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Sanford is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Last Saturday, Sanford made easy work of Trinidad and carried off a 3-0 win.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Sanford was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-10, 25-11.
Meanwhile, Escalante beat Jemez Valley 3-1 last Thursday. The Lobos haven't had any issues with the Warrior recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
While Escalante might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Jemez Valley scored at least 20 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-20, 13-25, 25-21.
Sanford better focus on containing Shea Archuleta and Natalie Aguilar as the pair were huge in Escalante's win. Archuleta had 55 digs, while Aguilar had 11 digs and four aces. Archuleta has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last 15 times she's played.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Sanford, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
Everything went Sanford's way against Escalante when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Sanford made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lobos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
