The biggest upset of the week belonged to Highlands, who took down 243rd ranked Greensburg Salem, 37-14.
The Golden Rams moved up to 263 from 316 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL AAA Northeastern. Highlands was able to make the jump by beating the Golden Lions 37-14.
Hampton's dynamic duo of Ryan Luther and Collin Luther proved tough for Derry to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Luther threw for 69 yards and one touchdown and Luther had 101 yards receiving. Jon Floss helped Hampton's passing attack out by catching one ball for 26 yards.
Benjamin Tackett was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 192 yards as Knoch bested the Trojans. Michael Cunningham also contributed to the rushing game with 11 yards on the ground.
5-foot-8 quarterback Jon Nigro of Hampton is the league leader in passing yards this season with 909. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, Mars's Joshua Schultheis has rushed for 954 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Josh Wannarnaker. The Derry star has 29 catches for 478 yards.
Schultheis of the the Fightin' Planets is only 46 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in WPIAL AAA Northeastern this week will be when Jacque DeMatteo's team takes on Franklin Regional. The Talbots are in second place, while the Panthers are in third place.
Franklin Regional extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Golden Tigers, 35-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for Greg Botta's team.
