This season hasn't been kind to the Rock River Longhorns, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Southeast an easy 56-30 win. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rock River in their matchups with Southeast: they've now lost five in a row.
Southeast's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ayden Desmond, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The game was Desmond's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Shimic, who scored six points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Rock River bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.7 points per game. As for Southeast, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rock River will be home for the holidays to greet Encampment at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on HEM at 1:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024. HEM is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
