The Heritage Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Lapel Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Saturday, Heritage Christian got the win against Eastern Hancock by a conclusive 15-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Tripp Vaughan tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Will Ambrose, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Greyson Gregory also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Heritage Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastern Hancock only posted a batting average of .240.
Meanwhile, Lapel came tearing into Saturday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Norsemen 16-1.
Lapel also got a great performance from Jakoby Nunley as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits.
On the hitting side, AJ Nunley was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Darl Gustin, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Lapel's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Heritage Christian, their record is now 12-5.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Heritage Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Lapel struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Heritage Christian beat Lapel 10-7 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
