Basketball Recap: Families Instructing Students Homeschool's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

If Families Instructing Students HomeSchool was feeling good fresh off their 48-15 takedown of Out-of-Door Academy back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Families Instructing Students HomeSchool Hawks took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Classical Prep Lions on Friday. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Families Instructing Students HomeSchool still got an impressive performance from Melody Lee, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Lee is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Julianna Lamon, who went 6 of 15 en route to 12 points and eight rebounds.

Families Instructing Students HomeSchool moved to 5-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Classical Prep, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Families Instructing Students HomeSchool will take on Winter Haven Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 13th. As for Classical Prep, they will head out to square off against Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
