Myles McLaughlin of
Knox (Ind.) is climbing toward the top of a number of rushing and scoring lists in the
MaxPreps National High School Football Record Book.
Read on for a look at where he stands in each category.
Career rushing yardsWith 362 yards last week, McLaughlin moved from 25th place in career rushing yardage to 21st with 9,461 yards. If he rushes for his season average of 350 yards, McLaughlin can move into the top 15 this week. He needs just 539 yards to become the 13th player in high school history to rush for over 10,000 yards.
Career touchdownsWith six touchdowns last week, McLaughlin advances into a tie for 18th place all-time with 145 career touchdowns. He is tied with Traylon Shead of
Cayuga (Texas). The six scores also put McLaughlin in a tie for second place in the state record book for career touchdowns, surpassing Brett Law of
Sheridan and tying Jack Kiser of Pioneer (Royal Center). Law broke the national record for career touchdowns with 141 in 1989 but is now No. 22 all-time. Kizer had 145 career touchdowns, including 139 rushing. Charlie Spegall holds the state record with 193.
Career pointsIn addition to his 145 career touchdowns, McLaughlin has also scored 62 two-point conversions for a total of 940 career points. The puts him in 15th place all-time, just 21 more points will put McLaughlin into the top 10.
Career two-point conversionsWhile MaxPreps does not have a category for two-point conversions, it is believed that McLaughlin now ranks No. 2 all-time with 62.
Will Knight of
Smyrna (Del.) holds the record with 111 two-point conversions.
Career rushing touchdowns
Of McLaughlin's 145 touchdowns, 142 of them have been rushing touchdowns. He is in a tie for 15th place all-time with Kevin Grady, Jr., of
East Grand Rapids (Grand Rapids, Mich.). His rushing touchdowns are a state record for a quarterback, surpassing Kiser's total of 139.
Career 100-yard rushing gamesWith 41 100-yard rushing games in his career, McLaughlin ranks in a six-way tie for 17th place on the all-time list.
Charlie Spegal of
New Palestine (Ind.) holds the state record with 48.
Consecutive 100-yard rushing gamesAdding seven more 100-year games this year, McLaughlin has 31 all-time, which ranks in a tie for ninth all-time. Interestingly enough, McLaughlin is not the active leader.
Kaegan Ash of
Mt. Enterprise (Texas) is one ahead of McLaughlin with 32 games in a row.
Career 200-yard rushing gamesMcLaughlin is closing in on the state record of 28 200-yard games held by Spegal. McLaughlin has 22, putting him in a tie for 12th all-time.
Derrick Henry of
Yulee (Fla.) is one of two players to hold the record with 32.
Career 300-yard rushing games
McLaughlin is close to double figures, picking up his ninth 300-yard rushing game last week with 362 yards.
Daniel Bangura of
Harvest Prep (Canal Winchester, Ohio) holds the record with 16.
Career 400-yard rushing gamesEthen Knox of
Oil City (Pa.) holds the record with seven 400-yard rushing games. McLaughlin is in a tie for fourth place all-time with three.
