Even though the West Columbus Vikings have not done well against the Whiteville Wolfpack recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. West Columbus took down Whiteville 70-53. The win made it back-to-back wins for West Columbus.
Unique Kelly continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Watts-Brown, who scored 13 points.
Amari Best and Brycen Edwards certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Best dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Edwards scored 14 points along with two steals. Best also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Will Fisher, who scored 11 points.
West Columbus has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Whiteville, they bumped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Columbus will take on South Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Whiteville, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against East Columbus at 7:30 p.m. East Columbus is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
