The Denver East Angels had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 78-77 victory over Windsor. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Wizards players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Johnathan Reed, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 18 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Jones, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds.
Denver East's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Windsor, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Denver East will square off against Poudre at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Windsor, they will face off against Vista Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
