Omaha North will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Buena Vista on Tuesday. Colin Kinman made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Kinman was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Max Bolouvi was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacob Markham, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Omaha North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buena Vista only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Gross Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln Christian.
Drew Powers was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddux Villamonte, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Omaha North's record is now 10-6. As for Gross Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Omaha North has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gross Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Omaha North couldn't quite finish off Gross Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
