If the Blackfoot Broncos were riding high off their 73-38 takedown of the Idaho Falls Tigers last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Blackfoot took a serious blow against Hillcrest on Friday, falling 88-55. While losing is never fun, Blackfoot can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Hillcrest is ranked tenth).
Several Broncos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carter Andersen, who scored 12 points. Austin Arave was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Hillcrest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ike Sutton, who scored 30 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sutton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan Taylor, who scored 15 points along with five assists and four steals.
Blackfoot's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Hillcrest, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-6.
Blackfoot will head out on the road to square off against Bonneville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Blackfoot is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season. As for Hillcrest, they will be playing at home against Idaho Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillcrest is coming into the matchup with 17 straight victories at home, so Idaho Falls is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
