The Carmi-White County Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Woodlawn Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Carmi-White County is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Carmi-White County beat the Wolves 47-41. Given Carmi-White County's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Wolves are ranked 453rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Woodlawn put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season on Monday. They put the hurt on Sesser-Valier/Waltonville with a sharp 61-41 win.
Woodlawn's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jase Burkett, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Burkett hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aryka Warren, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Carmi-White County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. As for Woodlawn, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.
Carmi-White County came up short against the Cardinals when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 51-39. Can Carmi-White County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
