Eatonville and Orting are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Cruisers will welcome the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Eatonville has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Last Wednesday, Eatonville didn't have quite enough to beat Washington and fell 12-11.
Lila Downey was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aubree Mills, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Orting, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Washington a 7-0 shutout on Thursday. The Cardinals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kathryn Prest made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Katie Arnett was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Madalynn Halte was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Orting's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Eatonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Orting's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Eatonville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .505. It's a different story for Orting, though, as they've only averaged .338. Will they be able to contain Eatonville's hitters?
Everything went Eatonville's way against Orting in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, as Eatonville made off with a 28-10 victory. Will the Cruisers repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
