Central recap November 5, 2013
Springfield was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in Central. Earlier in the week, the Cougars defeated Harriton 26-6.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Garnet Valley beat Conestoga 30-0. This was the team's 10th consecutive win.
Marple Newtown's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tommy Davis threw for 46 yards and Abel Hoff had 38 yards receiving. On the ground Adrian Sapnas chipped in 189 yards.
The Fightin' Tigers' dynamic duo of Davis and Hoff proved to be unstoppable against Lower Merion, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Matt McKee made the biggest impact on defense this week as Marple Newtown defeated the Aces. The 5-foot-10 sophomore forced 1 fumble.
Sapnas provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Ray Gionta's team topped Lower Merion.
Penncrest's Danny Fisher and LaVaughn Frame have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Fisher has thrown for 1,176 yards this season, while Frame has 29 catches for 611 yards. Sapnas from the Fightin' Tigers leads the league in rushing with 813 yards.
A big matchup in Central this week will be when Radnor takes on Dana Keith's team. The Red Raiders are in 10th place, while the Aces are in 12th place.
Strath Haven led the league in scoring this week by notching 47 points on Radnor.
