The matchup between the Fannindel Falcons and the Dodd City Hornets on Tuesday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. Fannindel took a serious blow against Dodd City, falling 70-38. While losing is never fun, Fannindel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1633rd, while Dodd City is ranked 668th).
Despite the loss, Fannindel saw an underclassman step up: Kalob Runnels scored 16 points. That was a full 42.1% of Fannindel's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lucas Moreland, who scored six points.
This is the second loss in a row for Fannindel and nudges their season record down to 1-14. As for Dodd City, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-7.
Fannindel will head out on the road to take on Campbell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Campbell is on a four-game streak of home losses, Fannindel a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Dodd City will take on Savoy at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
