After a string of three wins, the Central Jaguars's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 51-43 to Pace. Central lost against the Patriots in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 56-15 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Central saw an underclassman step up: Lily Mathews shot 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mathews has scored all season. Lakin Mathews was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Central's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Pace, their win bumped their record up to 17-7.
Central will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Pace is on the road again on Monday and plays the Aggies on February 5th. Tate is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
