Hillcrest has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Olympus Titans at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Hillcrest scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 73-45 win over Stansbury at home. The victory was just what Hillcrest needed coming off of a 73-51 loss in their prior game.
Damani Wilkerson was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Hillcrest's points. Another player making a difference was Zach Tanner, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Olympus waltzed into their game Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They secured a 87-83 W over Bingham. Given Olympus' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Bingham is ranked 48th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hillcrest's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Olympus, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Hillcrest was dealt a bruising 81-48 defeat at the hands of Olympus in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Hillcrest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
