Even though the West Cowboys have not done well against the Marion-Franklin Red Devils recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. West walked away with a 59-52 victory over Marion-Franklin. The win made it back-to-back wins for West.
When it comes to explaining why Marion-Franklin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Terry Black. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. Black is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Neko Tuff, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
West pushed their record up to 7-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Marion-Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West will square off against Eastmoor Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marion-Franklin, they will head out on the road to square off against South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
