The Geneseo Maple Leafs will face off against the East Moline United Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Geneseo comes in on five and East Moline United on three.
Geneseo had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Newark on Saturday. The Maple Leafs were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Norsemen. The result was nothing new for the Maple Leafs, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kendyl Wassenhove spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Madisyn Buysse was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Lillian Brown, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Geneseo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, East Moline United got themselves on the board against Galesburg on Thursday, but Galesburg never followed suit. They blew past the Silver Streaks 20-0.
Samantha Verstraete made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Verstraete was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Riley Myers looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Miah Berhenke, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Mea Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
East Moline United's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Geneseo, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.
Geneseo skirted past East Moline United 7-6 in their previous matchup on April 3rd. Do the Maple Leafs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
