There's no place like home for The Vicksburg Gators, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 18-16 victory over Callaway on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Vicksburg also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Vicksburg was led to victory by DeCorey Knight Jr and Collin Johnson. Knight Jr , while Johnson rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Despite the loss, Callaway still got an impressive performance from Duran McClendon, who rushed for 196 yards while picking up 10.9 yards per carry.
Vicksburg's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Callaway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vicksburg will take on Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Callaway, they will be playing at home against Warren Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Callaway in Mississippi (Warren Central is ranked 13th, while Callaway is ranked 89th).
