Palmetto is 8-2 against Braden River since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Palmetto will look to defend their home field against Braden River at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
Palmetto's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Sumner as Palmetto made off with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
MaKenna Lee made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Palmetto let Kalen Capps and Caroline Craft run wild. Capps scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Craft scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Craft a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Craft, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Palmetto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Braden River got the win against Southeast on Tuesday by a conclusive 17-0. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Seminoles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Maddie Kasch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Kasch was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Sheila Moreno was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season. Leighton Paul was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Palmetto has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. Braden River's victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
Braden River's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Palmetto has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Braden River, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 strikeouts. Will Palmetto keep running through batters, or will Braden River buck the trend?
Palmetto beat Braden River 6-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Does Palmetto have another victory up their sleeve, or will Braden River turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
