The Etiwanda Eagles's three-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They strolled past Damien with points to spare, taking the game 51-36. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Dermaricus Davis was a one-man wrecking crew for Etiwanda as he threw for 389 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punched in three touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Tarkington, who picked up 148 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Despite the defeat, Damien saw an underclassman step up: Isaiah Arriaza threw for 384 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Ayden Gutierrez, who picked up 167 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Etiwanda's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Damien, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
Etiwanda will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Bonaventure at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. St. Bonaventure is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games. As for Damien, they will head out on the road to face off against Murrieta Valley at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Murrieta Valley is ranked 22nd, while Damien is ranked 29th).
