Lewis & Clark recap October 22, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Lewis & Clark this week, Westran beat Slater 56-13. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Marceline made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,371 from 9,970. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 48-0 victory over Paris last week.
Westran's dynamic duo of Zane Jacoby and Jake Ingebritson proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jacoby threw for 107 yards and 1 touchdown and Ingebritson had 71 yards receiving. Richard Courtney helped Westran's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 17 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Coyotes' Kyle Popkes and Slater Stone have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Popkes has thrown for 1,832 yards this season, while Stone has 45 catches for 761 yards. Curtis Jasper's team's Jacoby leads the league in rushing yards with 1,234.
Going into this week's contest against Salisbury, Paris' Popkes needs 168 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
The Hornets' Ingebritson is a mere 98 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 121 carries Ingebritson has put up 902 yards this year.
The Panthers are currently in second, while Gary Crusha's team is in third.
