Union-Endicott (Endicott, N.Y.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 8 in New York, but was stunned by
Sweet Home (Amherst, N.Y.), 40-22. Sweet Home was ranked at No. 18 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for New York coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Kahlil Humphrey, the Tigers went into halftime with a 22-19 lead. The Panthers took the lead for good with a touchdown run by
Michael McCoy in the third quarter.
With the win Sweet Home extended its winning streak to 13 games. SH defeated the Lancers 28-21 last week.
Brad Zaffram played well for the Amherst school in the victory. The sophomore wide receiver ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown.
Joey Orlando made a difference for Union-Endicott. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns.
UE came in surrendering 15.9 points per game this season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Union-Endicott, which notched a 34-23 victory over Nottingham in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Endicott school's 2-game winning streak.
